Progress we've made
We have continued with our editing and have now almost added all the footage we need to complete our narrative. However, more editing is still needed with the footage we have already added, such as colouring and continuity editing.
Problems we've encountered
We have encountered some problems with sound. There is discontinuity between some clips as the audio/dialogue changes.
We aim to remedy this by adding soundtrack, and possibly recording more dialogue that could be used as an audio bridge between clips.

HR: Music ideas
As we cannot use music that is copyright protected, I have decided to look up some music made by people who are not a part of a record label so there music is freely available. I looked at different pieces which give different feels. Personally, I prefer the last one: Stefan Fraser - Alone as the first time I heard it, it did make me feel tense, but we could use elements of the other songs in our horror film opening.
Group: Feedback on Second Shoot
Where, when, how, with whom did you go?
Location: Woodbury Park Cemetary, Tunbridge Wells
Date: Sunday 11th March, 4:30 - 6:30
How:
Cast and crew:
What was successful about the shoot?
Outline any particularly creative shots?
My personal favourite shot of this shoot is the low angle shot of the protagonists running from the zombies.
Other shots that look really effective are a mid-shot that moves towards the actors as they run towards the camera, and a use of whip pan as the protagonists run past the camera.
What was less successful? Why?
At one or two points during the shoot we had to stop and wait for people to walk out of the background of our shot. We anticipated this would be an issue as the cemetary is , so put up a sign
How important was your storyboard in the filming process?
What will you be shooting next and when?
Location: Woodbury Park Cemetary, Tunbridge Wells
Date: Sunday 11th March, 4:30 - 6:30
How:
- Zombie make-up by Heather Robbins
- Prosthetic effects made by Rozzy Adams
- Filmed on Canon IXUS, Panasonic HDC-SD80, and Sony Bloggie for handicam shots
- A tripod was used for tracking shots, and a wheelchair used as a make-shift dolly for pedding and moving shots
Cast and crew:
- Director: Rozzy Adams
- Principal actors: Heather Robbins, Tatum O'Leary, Hatty Burton
- Cast: Freddie Allaway, Chloe Saunders, Ellie Wade
What was successful about the shoot?
- We got all of the footage we aimed to shoot done.
- We finished earlier that we expected too without having to rush or compromise the quality of our footage.
- We started earlier this time, which meant that we didn't run out of sunlight, which we had issues with at the last shoot.

To create these prosthetics, I used a technique based on this tutorial.

Group: (6/3) Concept Development
Following our initial shoot on saturday, we have further developed our concept to adapt to the problems we encountered. We now have a greater appreciation of the amount of time it takes to both shoot the footage, as well as preparation of costumes and make-up. Therefore we have modified our shooting schedule for our next shoot so that we start earlier, meaning we wont have the issue of running out of daylight, which we faced toward the end of saturday's shoot.

Group: Considering Sound
What dialogue, diagetic and non-diagetic sound are you using in your film?
The dialogue we are using is going to be from the actual camera to give a more realistic feel to it as the characters are supposed to be filming the zombie apocalypse documenting it day by day. There are a few small lines of dialogue within our opening, most notably Alexis' video blog.
Diagetic sound includes their footsteps, the opening of the fridge, the zombie groans and the screaming.
The non-diagetic sound we have in our opening is the soundtrack of suspenseful music. We may also choose to add additional sound effects to add further dimension to our opening, depending on how well the audio recordings turn out in our footage.
What issues do you have with sound?
As we are going to be filming outside for the graveyard, one problem that could occur is any wind or faint voices in the background from the general public, but we are most likely going to have non diagetic sounds over the top to help hide it. Within the house, issues that could occur is any faint noises from the neighbourhood such as cars, or children screaming. While filming, we had to make sure all radios, TVs and people were quiet so it would not intervene with our filming.
Where are you sourcing your sound from?
Most of our dialogue is going to come from the camera, but we were thinking while they are running away from the zombie in the house and struggling to get out of the door, we would have a montage of clips put together switching from different angles and handicam. From one clip, we will detach the audio to play above all clips so the audio runs smoothly and is not cut up.
